I. Product Overview
The slat chain chest freezer production line is a complete production and conveying system specially designed for the full assembly of chest freezers (top-opening freezers). It is suitable for large-scale final assembly of the full range of household and commercial chest freezers. Chest freezers integrate compressor, condenser, evaporator, temperature control system and insulated cabinet, with strict requirements on refrigerant circuit sealing, electrical safety, insulation performance and overall operating reliability. In traditional fixed-station assembly, cabinet transfer relies on forklifts or manual handling, resulting in high risk of collision damage; key processes such as refrigerant leak detection and power-on aging test are scattered, making unified quality data traceability difficult, and model changeover is inefficient when running multiple capacity models in mixed production.
This slat chain chest freezer line adopts a heavy-duty slat chain conveying structure, where the tooling load surface directly carries the freezer cabinet and conveys it in continuous step motion according to the production takt. It is equipped with an overhead suspended power supply busbar system; each station draws power independently, enabling online full-machine power-on testing and aging. The line fully covers the entire process from cabinet pre-assembly, refrigeration system installation, pipeline welding, electrical fitting, air-tightness leak detection, power-on aging, to final inspection and off-line.
The complete line consists of a heavy-duty slat chain conveyor main body, drive and tensioning mechanism, overhead power supply system, station blocking and positioning devices, electrical VFD control system, and quality traceability module. The slat chain load surface is flat with strong load capacity, suitable for conveying heavy freezer cabinets; operation is smooth without jolting, reducing collision and scratch damage to the cabinet insulation and sheet metal. The overhead power supply busbar runs along the full length of the line; each station is equipped with an independent power collector, allowing freezers to run continuously under power on line for refrigeration performance aging tests, without additional transfer to a separate aging workshop.
Stations are equipped with material racks, refrigerant detection tooling and electrical test modules, plus station-level industrial control terminals and barcode scanners that bind the full-machine SN number, collecting air-tightness pressure, electrical parameters and refrigeration operation data. The system can interface with MES for full-process quality traceability of each individual freezer. Tooling positioning parts can be quickly changed over to accommodate mixed production of chest freezers of different capacities and models, making the line suitable for new assembly workshops or upgrades of old assembly lines at refrigeration appliance manufacturers. The line solves problems such as difficult cabinet transfer, scattered leak detection and aging processes, and quality data gaps, detecting refrigerant leakage, circuit abnormalities and refrigeration failures at an early stage and stabilizing the production takt. The slat chain supports station accumulation buffering, so rework at a single station does not affect the operation of the whole line.
II. Assembly Process Flow
During line operation, the freezer cabinet is placed on the slat chain tooling load surface and circulates in step motion. The core processes are as follows:
- Cabinet loading station: The outer cabinet is hoisted onto the slat chain positioning station, the SN code is scanned and recorded, and the cabinet flows to the next process.
- Inner liner and insulation pre-assembly station: Assemble the inner liner and insulation pre-assemblies to complete the basic internal cabinet structure.
- Refrigeration system assembly station: Install the compressor, condenser and evaporator; weld the refrigerant pipelines; fix the pipeline brackets.
- Electrical system assembly station: Install the thermostat, main control board, power cords and lighting components; complete wiring and fixing.
- Air-tightness leak detection station (core process): Charge the test refrigerant and hold pressure for inspection to identify weld leak points in the refrigerant circuit.
- Online power-on aging station: Connect to the overhead power supply system; the full machine runs continuously under power to test refrigeration performance, temperature control accuracy and operating noise, simulating long-term working conditions to screen out early failures.
- Final inspection station: Re-check refrigeration performance, electrical safety, cabinet appearance and sealing performance, and judge pass/fail.
- Off-line station: Qualified products are packed and warehoused; unqualified products are reworked on site and re-enter the test stations; empty tooling returns to the loading station with the slat chain.
Key features of the slat chain + overhead power supply solution: heavy-duty load capacity for large freezer cabinets; online power-on aging reduces secondary transfer and improves test efficiency; the slat chain is oil-resistant and impact-resistant, well suited to refrigeration workshop environments.
